Windows XP Pro freezing up on me ?

Hi, My computer is running Windows XP Pro and it suddenly started freezing up on me. Mostly after a few minutes after bootup and the desktop is loaded. Any ideas ? CommentsFirst determine the amount of RAM installed on the computer.
Next list processes, CPU usage and Commit Charge is this just recent? try a system restore but if that does not solve the problem, come back to current date
run C Cleaner
what AV scanner is resident? is up to date and all scans clean?
run spyware cleaners including Spywareblaster, Spybot Search & Destroy, Super Anti Spyware and Malwarebytes.
a couple of other scans include Runscanner and Dr Web CureIT.
