Vista Windows Mail 2006 vs. Outlook 2003
By: Shailesh Singh | 10 Sep 2008 10:21 pm
I have a new Compaq PC running Vista Home Premium with Windows Mail 2006 and Word 2003. I'd like to get opinions on whether I should stick with Windows Mail, which seems to be an updated version of Outlook Express, or install Outlook 2003. Comments
I prefer Outlook. It has several options not contained in Windows Mail. The 2003 version works well on Vista. Be sure once it's installed you obtain the
updates. I think it's now in its 3rd service patch. As to your reluctance, I think as you get to know the program you'll find it's as least as good as XP and in some areas, a considerable improvement. I think the major problem with Vista was marketing. Microsoft made an erroneous decision that everyone would gladly run out and spend money to upgrade their hardware for what was arguably a good upgrade to XP. That gamble appears to have failed. On balance if you have the hardware to run it, Vista works quite well.
"windows live mail" (better than "windows mail"). For vista and xp. It is the successor of "windows mail" which itself is the successor of outlook express. Free from Microsoft.

Does "windows live mail" work similar to OE? I for one like the way OE works
or maybe it is more comfortable than change. Can one have and receive mail from both on the same computer?

Its works just the same with different features. If you have vista you only
have Mail not OE.

If you are familiar with outlook express, you won't have to do a lot of study to work with "Windows Live Mail". There are some differences but not a lot. It comes from the same house. You may have indeed one session per user on the same computer, totally independant of one another.
It is far better than "Windows Mail" and is XP and Vista compatible.
