Replaced main HD and now it is H: what can I do?

By: rekha singh | 14 Feb 2010 5:10 pm

I just had a meltdown and lost XP on my C: but could still access data. So I popped in a new SATA, formated and loaded windows XP. Now my new main drive is H: and my old bad drive is C: . The old drive has been removed but the new drive is still H: Can I change this drive to be C: and how do I do it?
Thanks

Also now my Dell gives me a 41 error on the cd/dvd drives. And that is another question

You can change it but things may not work any more. The problem was you installed with the old drive in the computer, and that had the drive letter of C: on it. The one thing you can do is live with it as it really dose not
matter. Or rebuild the HD with out the other on installed.

There are way to force the drive letter to C: but you will need a reg tool to make sure that the change is done through the hole reg.

Any way good luck.
