How to print pdf file?
By: rekha singh | 18 Jun 2010 1:22 pm
I need a copy of my Nikon Camera's users manual. I found it and downloaded the copy. It's in PDF format. But I can't print it. The print command is grayed out. I have been able to print PDFs in the past.
I am using Adobe Acrobat 7.0
Is there a work around?
I can't copy it to a Word file.
I am using Mozilla Firefox as my internet browser. (Would Internet Explorer work any better?)
Thanks,
CommentsYou need Adobe Reader. Acrobat is a development program.

Hi, Some PDFs are secured. Depending on the security type, you might not be able to print or copy. It is also possible to limit the selection of text in the document.
In the past, I normally counter this problem in Linux by using pdf2ps command. In windows, I have no idea. Hope others can help.
Warmest regards.

It has protection on it by the manufacturer itself. Tell you what, if you can't find another version which allows you to print, let me know as I paid for advanced pdf password recovery a few years back which will unlock it, you can send it to me via email. I will unlock it and send it back.

If you register as a user you can get a copy OK User Manual Downloads
Product registration is required to access user manual downloads
Click here to sign in and register your product(s)
New users should click here to create an account
To protect against copyright infringement, all user manuals published since August 2008 are non-printable.

you could always use a programe called PDF to Word. You can have a look at this site

Are you reading it in the browser, or have you saved it to your drive? I use Fox-it as a Firefox add-in (you could use Adobe the same way), but I always save to disk rather than print (I rarely print anything). However, once it has been saved, it should be printable.

Tried the program, but a couple of glitches. 1. My PDF is password protected. Can't access it.
2. The downloaded trial version would only do 1 page of its own selection.
Thanks, anyway

My Adobe Acrobat has a "Reader" folder that works great.

AFAIK Adobe Acrobat does everything you can do with Adobe Reader and much more. Adobe Acrobat is a program capable of creating and modifying PDF files, and of course it has to have the capability to print them. Adobe Reader is a free program to be used for reading PDF files by people who do not wish to purchase Adobe Acrobat, which is a rather expensive program. The difficulty encountered in printing the PDF file may due to it having been password protected (using Adobe Acrobat) to ensure that it can't be printed. If this is the case, Adobe Reader will not solve this problem, you'll need both Acrobat to change the file permissions AND the original password to access those permissions.

Thanks. You put me on the right track.
Initially, I googled the user manual and downloaded it. That was the one that would not print. After your comments I found and went thru Nikon's home page to the Users Manual.
Strange. the manual I got thru the home page was different than the first and I could print it with no problem.
Now I am happy !
Thanks for the different insight.
thanks to all others who tried to help. Until now I was resigned to the tedious method of using PrintScreen for each page.

You may find the manual for your camera here. http://safemanuals. com Not sure if those are printable but worth a try.
