Monitor failing?

By: Admin | 18 Sep 2008 8:57 am

I have a Metro, flat screen, 19 inch monitor that will only turn on if I hit the manual switch several times.

It is about 3 years old. Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Connect the monitor through a powerstrip. Once the monitor is working then try turning it on and off using the switch on the powerstrip. Hopefully the monitor switch will stay in the working position once it is there. I do this for all my computer systems. Long ago I read that this was recommended for turning on/off all computer equipment as it is cheaper to replace a powerstrip than to replace a switch in a computer or monitor.

No suggestion only a though that your switch is not making good contact if
you are not see the monitor signal on screen before the computer boots up,

As the monitor is 3 years old it a new one now I guess.

If that doesn't work you could try just leaving it on. If the power light
goes to yellow when you power off the computer, then it it is still on but
in power saving mode which uses a trickle of power compared to when it
actually is displaying something.
