DLL stands for Dynamic Link Library, this is an explanation.

The .DLL is a library of shared files that allow multiple programs to run at once on your Windows computer and stands for Dynamic Link Library. When Bill Gates and Microsoft originally created the first Windows programs, it was away for users to have a much more visually friendly interface with the DOS operating system. When a single program would run in the Windows Environment such as a word processing application, it was not able to share resources with other programs, which meant that if you tried to run three or four programs at once, the computer became bogged down.

To solve the problem, the engineers at Microsoft came up with a way for multiple programs to share files and resources instead of each one being a single operation. To do this, they came up with a shared library of links that would allow a running program to access the same data and files at once
and the concept of the Dynamic Link Library ( .DLL ) was born

As a .DLL in this situation is probably an application extension file it will not give you any association information and although CMP.exe is a virus this one in its full title does not show up as a threat or part of the system files I think it would be safe to delete it.

I would disable it with MSConfig and run full virus scan. If it was a file required by the OS it wouldn't nececessarily be launching in startup. If you search for it and right click to go to properties, it should tell you which company wrote it if it is digitally signed. If its not digitally signed then I would be really lary of it.

That's just what I did.
Have disabled in startup and attempted to access properties of the .dll file Doesn't really supply much information.
Thanks

You could move it from Startup to Desktop. Or (maybe better) rename it  where it is to something like testsave.localupCMP .dll - so whatever  program might be using it can't find it. If you don't have problems in a  couple days, delete it permanently.
