Is there a viewer or other free program(s) that will read a .CWK file? I couldn't open it with MS Word
The CWK file type is primarily associated with 'ClarisWorks' by FileMaker, Inc.. ClarisWorks has been taken over by FileMaker, Inc.
The FileMaker Pro program version 7 or lower might be able to open these files. If you can find an old copy of AppleWorks it also should be able to open them.

That was a link to a program called FileCure that is used to repair the association between a file type and the program used with that file type. That website clearly states that in order to repair the association and open the file then you must have installed on your computer system the program needed to work with that file. The free part was for a scan to find possible file association problems. To fix associations you have to purchase the program for $29.97. It is the typical bait-n-switch of a free program to scan to show you your problems and then charge you in order to be able to fix them.
I provided a link to such a program, expecting that 15 days of use would be sufficient time or the program could be purchased for longer use if it proves to be of value.

No, while most sites now carry outstanding link to paid for scans and other programs the site explained what what the CWK extension was and at the bottom of that piece gave links to other pages, it also offered the free scan

you already wrote that you knew what program had been used to create the file, indicating to me that you knew what the extension was associated with.
I interpreted "Is there a viewer" and "will read" as wanting to open the cwk. But, I could be wrong, it was just my interpretation and I tried to assist. I couldn't find a free program, but I thought the 15 day trial period was worth looking into.

I do not think there is a free program out there to open CWK files. This is what is said about them.
The .cwk files can be shared between the Mac and Windows platforms, but Apple recommends that users not try to open them on the opposite platform by simply double clicking the file. Instead, users should use the "open" option from the file menu. When planning to open a Mac .cwk on a Windows machine, the .cwk file extension must be added manually by re-naming the file. Apple also recommends that when sharing .cwk files between machines, both machines should be running the same version of AppleWorks or ClarisWorks. Files from different versions can cause data errors when opening the files.
