Breaking up large videos

I am looking for a simple open source program that will read in a video and allow you to export it in small segments. I have family videos that I would like to put up on facebook, but they are too large as they are. Comments

If they are in a format that Windows Media Player recognizes you can load and edit them with Windows Movie Maker. It came with XP but has to be downloaded as an add on with Windows 7. You can join or split the files up how ever you want.
