How about what's new with PCs?

By: rekha singh | 10 Mar 2010 1:55 pm

 Hi all:

What's new with PC? Just ruminating, but I think by the end of the year  almost everything will be new. Just look at the list........ ..

1) Win7.
2) Dropping PMCIA and Expresscards off Laptops.
3) Photo card slots on all laptops and most Desktops.
4) No more PS2 mouse or keyboard ports. Serial and parallel are  gone, so is floppy.
 5) External eSata ports on most Laptops.
6) Lots of PCs with HDMI ports.
 7) USB3 motherboards now shipping to OEMs. And USB3 devices are in  production.
 8) SSDs will replace mechanical hard drives, at least for running the OS.
 9) And, the "Cloud", (Online computing) will take over.
 10) Getting rid of the obsolete BIOS.

Of all the above I am looking forward the most to eSATA ports and USB3  ports. USB3 ports will improve external data transfer by a factor of 10, and will be a strong competitor over eSATA ports.

Anyone contemplating a new PC purchase may want to examine their choice closely for the above advancements. Any comments? Bye

My only 2 comments are:
There is already technology that will replace HDMI ports, and I'm only cool with cloud computing to a certain extent. For business possibly, but for home, no way.
